  1. Probably ranks for me as one of the most poignant final scenes in cinema history. Even 30+ years after I watched it for the first time, this Masterpiece of cinamatic art still manages to reduces me to tears...
    After spending a wonderful night at the theater John realises that life would never get any better than this.After finishing building his beautiful model of the cathedral he knows he only has one other thing left to do in life. A terrible life, in which he had suffered daily the constant miserable indignity which his horrible disfigurment had brought him. He finally decides he just wants peace and to once lie down and sleep like a normal man.
